At BSG Musical Instruments s.r.o. we aim to offer you quality instruments bearing all the hallmark’s of precision handwork, along with the beauty of the wood and the brilliance of sound. The appearance of all our guitars are influenced mainly by the natural colour of the individual woods in their optimal combinations. We prefer to use only natural materials for the guitar detailing, such as bone nuts and bridge saddles, various marquetry, purflings, wooden bindings, paua and abalone shell inlays, covers and so on.
The design of BSG guitars reflects the latest trends and technological knowledge optimised for durability and sound stability of each instrument. The shapes of the individual models are chosen to meet the requirements of each customer, while the majority of them are based on classic and successful designs.
All BSG guitars are individually hand-made and are not mass produced, so we can offer an individual and flexible approach to each instrument where we aim to meet the needs, desires and requirements of each customer.
The history of BSG began in 1990, when Jan Šťovíček built his very first acoustic guitar. His main hobby was and still is, playing guitar and this was also the main reason why Jan started making guitars. In 1995, he completed and is certified from the Secondary Vocational School of Musical Instruments in Luby near Cheb, in the Czech Republic, central Europe. At the same time, he completed 2 years of hands-on-practical experience from the famous Czech luthier Josef Kubla, from whom he acquired the most important techniques in construction of acoustic guitars. After several years of gathering knowledge in his home country, Jan decided to gain more experience abroad and spent three years in the USA. In 1999, shortly after Jan's return from the USA, Jan, together with Pavel Bureš, founded BSG (Bures Stovicek Guitars), and the guitars under this brand began to be sold in foreign markets, especially in USA and Switzerland. At the beginning of 2004, after about three years of cooperation, Pavel Bureš decided to leave the company. The production of guitars thus continued under Jan's leadership. The breadth of supply and the volume of production grew rapidly, and together with a new vision, the quality of the instruments also increased. Due to the high quality of BSG guitars, they have acquired an excellent reputation by players around the world, thus gaining a permanent position in studios, concert halls, homes and prestigious guitar stores around the world.
